Holden HQ

David Irving is an artist living in the countryside of New Zealand. His works are sold worldwide, with much of his time devoted to the painting or drawing classic vehicles, aeroplanes, historic buildings and portraits. Working from photographs or even just his (or others) imagination, he works mainly with watercolours or pencil, although other media are used from time to time. Admitted to the prestigious British "Guild of Motoring Artists", we at Unique Cars and Parts are most priveleged to be able to offer these truly Unique and beautiful art works.

The first Four Door GTS Monaro arrived in 1973. It featured new contoured front seats, trimmed in a sophisticated herringbone pattern. Black SS bonnet and boot patches were replaced by louder GTS rally panels on the bonnet and boot lid. They did the trick; there was no mistaking the GTS Monaro four door for any other of the 250,000 HQ Holdens already on the road. This HQ Holden was arguably a high point of GMH styling, and an Australian classic. They still proliferate the Australian landscape (an icon of cars that were "built to last") in their various configurations of body styles and engine combinations. Even in the seventies, a new Holden was a major Aussie event, that drew a lot of excitement, and the HQ series represented the most significant redesign of the Holden since the forties..
