The Torana GTR XU1 went on sale on the 19th
August 1970. With a weight of 1100 kgs, stiffened

steering, it was not everyones favourite for
a simple Sunday cruise - but if you decided
to push this car to its limits then you would
have a smile as wide as your face. The GTR
XU-1 loved nothing better than to be thrashed
down a winding country road. The print is

The scene was set for the fabulous 1972 Hardie-Ferodo 500, and Harry Firth had another ace up his sleeve, an outstanding young driver that had shown plenty of form on previous outings, most notably a 3rd place in the 1969 Hardie-Ferodo when co-driving a Monaro GTS 350 with Des West.
The decision to stick with the race proven Hot Holden Six paid big dividends, with Peter Brock finishing the race a whopping 5 laps clear of his nearest competitor, John French's Falcon XY GTHO. The print is
from an original watercolour by David Irving,
it is signed by the artist.
