Clyno | Pre War British Sports Cars

Although the Clyno was mainly produced as a touring car, a sports model was marketed in 1924 after many requests had been made by intending purchasers. The car differed very little from the famous standard models, having the very reliable side-valve 1368-c.c. (66 x 100-mm.) engine. Suspension was by quarter-elliptic springs all round, and an inverted type of cone clutch was used. The three-speed gearbox was centrally located, and a smart two-seater body fitted.

The makers, however, experienced such a rush on the standard productions that very few of the sporting cars could be supplied. One or two of them did very well in reliability trials, and, considering their low initial cost (£250), were excellent value.
