Introduction

Just two short years after the initial introduction of the Gemini GMH decided to update the little car that was proving to be a huge hit with Aussie buyers.

The new model TC was, as could be expected after only 2 years, merely a facelift of the old model, however Holden decided to introduce some important handling options, such as a front stabilizer bar and steel belted radial tyres. The drive train however remained unchanged.

Externally, the car remained little changed, the most noteable difference now being a vertical slot front grille. 1977 also saw the introduction of the "Sandpiper" model, which featured a stereo cassette player, a four spoke steering wheel and a wood grain finished dash.

Gemini is not an Australian car, it's Japanese, like Mitsubishi sigma is Japanese like the sigma review, even tho it was assembled in tonsley,sa, but you still say Japan, isuzu Gemini is Japanese just as much as sigma...giving gmh undue credit for something it didn't design...again.

I bought one of these new around 77/78. The Gemini, in my opinion, would have to be one of the best cars of it's era I thought it so good, I traded it on a new TE with RTS after finishing with the TC. The TE was also excellent, but didn't have the same power. I drove from Townsville to Perth twice in the TE, it overheated crossing the Hay plains on one trip, but otherwise never had any problems. My previous car was a 250 ci Cortina, but this little Gemini amazed me with it's power - what a great little car.

Just a correction on the tank capacity, i have a coupe and the capacity is indeed 52 litres, the tank is not model specific, at least as far as the coupes go, so i guess it is 52 across the board.

The technical specifications say the fuel tank was 52litres but the TC has a 30litre fuel tank. I imagine that applies to the TX as well and probably other models.
They are so fuel efficient they didn't need a bigger fuel tank.
A great little Australian car. Rear wheel drive, great handling and acceleration.
