Introduction
Mercedes coupes have always been eye-catchers, the two door design and resultant window shape making for sleek sophistication.
Introduced at the end of 1968 as the last of the "new generation" cars, the chassis, wheelbase and track were identical to the 250 sedan however the roof was nearly two inches lower and the passenger compartment was shorter.
There were no pillars between the front and rear side windows and the chrome strips on the roof made the car look considerably more sporty than the staid sedan models.
Powered by either a carburettor engine (C) or electronically fuel injected engine (CE), the vehicle boasted caliper-type disc
brakes and radial
tyres for superb road holding.
