The 1902 Carver was manufactured by Joseph Carver Ltd., who went on to make caravan heaters and drain cleaning rods. The Carver was a one-off, powered by a 500cc single cylinder engine. Everything that could be turned on a treadle lathe, including the cylinder barrel, was made by David Carver. He used the car personally until approx 1907, when he purchased a Premier motorcycle and transferred the registration number. This bike was found in his old workshop in the 1950s. Carver did return briefly to car manufacture after World War II, in an attempt to bypass the queues for new cars. This was a 4 litre tourer, based on an old Alvis chassis. |
