Castrol lubricated the
first aircraft to fly the Atlantic, the first
airship to complete the double crossing, the
record-breaking cars and motor-cycles that
have broken well over 20 land speed records
outright, and the first jet-engined boat to
break the water speed record. In 1962 a Castrol
lubricated machine broke the land speed record
for motor-cycles again, a Castrol lubricated "hovercraft"
carried passengers across the waters of teh Solent
and, for the first time at the Farnborough Air Display,
more aircraft flew on Castrol than on all the other
oils put togther. Champions on road and track, too,
chose Castrol to establish one of the most successful
sporting seasons for years. In the following pages
we depict a few of the successes which were achieved
with the help of the "Masterpiece in oils" in
1962. Mr. Gordon Horner once again kindly painted
the cover illustrations. Reproduction by courtesy
