The front bonnet was not very strong or lockable. I was one of the founding members of the Triumph Herald Car Club in Australia, we got no help from the resellers and any troubles were solved by our members. The triumph Owners Car Club refused us in joining their club as they did not consider the Herald a true Triumph.
To secure the bonnett one club member designed a sliding bolt assembly for the bonnett which secured the bonnett. The car I brought was missing the map shelf and despite numerious letters and phone cars it was never installed.
I had the car for two years and upgraded it for a bigger car as the family grew.
