The 2016 Leyburn Sprints for historic and classic racing cars will be on 20-21 August, 2016 at the Leyburn, Darling Downs, Queensland and again is expected to lure more than 200 drivers and up to 10,000 spectators for time trials on a round-the-houses street course.
The annual event will celebrate the running of the 1949 Australian Grand Prix on a nearby ex-wartime airstrip. Renowned for their friendly country atmosphere as well as close competition, the Sprints draw thousands of spectators from throughout the Darling Downs and Southern Queensland.
Shannons Show ‘n’ Shine will be on once again in 2016. See over 150 cars in all their finery on display Sunday 21st August opposite the Royal Hotel, Leyburn. Become part of the action. Proceeds from the not-for-profit Sprints benefit local community groups and projects, many of which assist in the event’s preparation and operation.
