| I have been collecting hubcaps for a few years and the other day i was given one that i have never seen before. It looks like a normal metal hubcap its about 14 or 15 inches in dia but in the centre it has what looks like a circular plate added in middle-about 6or7inches dia that has GENERAL MOTORS printed 3 times around the diameter then it has the holden lion symbol with the wreath around it (like a stateman/caprice or similiar would have. On the underside of the hubcap you can see that the metal plate has been added on as there are 4 rivets holding it on and also an embossed holden symbol. Nobody seems to know what it has come off. I thought someone may have added the plate on themselves but the plate is too commercialised looking as the GENERAL MOTORS is engraved and has black paint also the holden emblem also has black paint in the background and the wreath is also embossed with black on the raised bit. Any ideas of where it has come from? The person who gave it to me says it has been laying around their workshop for years they use hub caps as a their parts dishes. |
