G.M. Holdens Ltd. - Production of Gemini Models
The Gemini was being upgraded and released as a new
model in quick succession in the late 1970's. Just 3 years
after its initial release the 3rd model was introduced
as the TD. The most noticeable visual change was the introduction
of more attractive and up-market looking square headlights. The grille was, as always, changed again and now the little
Gemini incorporated RTS (Radial Tuned Suspension) which
was much heralded in its big brother, the Holden HZ.
After 4 years and 3 model revisions, in 1979
GMH finally gave the Gemini a complete makeover, which included a revised engine and alteration to virtually every body panel. The Gemini had now spanned the casm between the traditional large
HZ Holden HZ to the new smaller
VB Commodore, and the styling changes reflected Holdens new visual identity, with the TE looking very much the little brother to the VB.
Seven years since the introduction of the Gemini and it was time yeat again for another face lift. It was no surprise to learn that the new model TF had a raft of appointment upgrades over the old model, but there were to be very few mechanical upgrades. The SL/X grille and headlight arrangement now closely resembled the VH Commodore and thus made the Gemini appear much larger.
