Origins:

Weaving loom enterprise in 1909. Motorcycle manufacture started in 1952, followed by a light car, the Suzulight in 1955. Launch of the Suzuki Fronte 360 LC 10 in 1967.

Milestones:

First mass-production model: Suzulight (1955).
Model most sold abroad (as at 1979): Cervo (Fronte) - 3991 units exported in 1979.
Number of employees (as at 1979): 8,700.
Position among Japanese Manufacturers (as at 1979): 9th (1.1 per cent of home market).
Position among exporters (as at 1979): 9th.
Group products: Motorcycles, cars, light commercial vehicles, light four-wheel drive vehicles, outboard marine engines, engines for snowmobiles, prefabricated houses.
Range: (as at 1979): Suzuki SC 100 (two models), Suzuki SS 20 (two models).
