Atlantic products were marketed in Australia
from 1924 and Union oil products (under the 'Venus'
name) from 1925. In 1927 the U.S. Atlantic and
Union concerns formed a holding company, as a
result the Australian based Atlantic Union Oil
Company marketed Union motor spirit and Atlantic
oils.
In 1931 Union 'White Flash' made its debut
and in 1934 saw the appearance of Atlantic Ethyl.
By 1962 the Atlantic name was replaced by the
Esso logo, largely due to changes in ownership
of the U.S. based concern. In 1991 Esso Standard
Oil (Australia) was taken over by Mobil.
