Fade To White

Decarbonize

To remove carbon deposits from the engine. When it reaches a certain stage carbon can, by fouling valves, seriously reduce the efficiency of the engine. Sometimes it becomes red hot, causing pre-ignition, running on and other undesirable effects. Decarbonizing, as well as removing carbon deposits, usually includes the grinding in of the valves on to their seats to restore gas tightness and eradicate damage from burning of valve and seat surfaces.
