McEvoy Special | Pre War British Sports Cars

Although Michael McEvoy was mainly concerned with the Zoller supercharger (with Laurence Pomeroy, Jr.) and with high-performance motor-cycles, he also produced various sporting versions based on popular chassis. In the early 'thirties competition models of M.G. and Morris Minor by McEvoy were most successful, but his fastest sports car was undoubtedly the one based on the Wolseley Hornet. This car was probably the quickest Wolseley Hornet ever turned out, particularly the blown version, which performed extremely well in every possible type of event, from trials to longdistance races at Brooklands. The McEvoy Special Hornet was also noted for its reliability, and models are still performing creditably after WW2. Chief exponents of the cars, in addition to McEvoy himself, were Henry Laird and Guy Bochaton.
