Introduction

The Austin A30 saloon car was introduced in 1951 and featured a newly designed 803cc four cylinder overhead valve engine which later became known as the A series engine.

These first models were actually known as the AS3 (and also Austin Seven for a while) and are now very rare. They had a smaller front radiator grill and different instrumentation than the later models which arrived in 1953. It was Austin's first unitary construction car, the styling being something of a scaled down version of the larger "Counties" Austin's.

It was finally replaced by the more powerful A35 saloon in 1956. There was also a "Countryman" estate version produced between 1954 and 1956.
