Small Ford Sunday 2015

Small Ford Sunday 2015

From an era when the Cortina and Escort ruled the track, in both bitumen and offroad events, these pristine examples are a true credit to their owners.

Sydney Car Carnivale 2015

Sydney Car Carnivale 2015

Holdens, Fords, Fiat and Alfa's - just a few of the marques that took our fancy at the 2015 Sydney Car Carnivale. The turnout was brilliant, and the vehicles on display mouth-wateringly well preserved. We loved them, and are sure you will too!

Sydney Car Carnivale 2014

The weather may have been overcast, but that didn't stop hundreds of Classic Car enthusiasts from venturing out in their vehicles, to the delight of many thousands who attended the event.

Picnic At Hanging Rock

21st Annual Picnic At Hanging Rock 2008

The 21st Annual Picnic At Hanging Rock was a great success, judging by the number of vehicles on display and the huge crowd that attended the event. The mind starts spinning with over 2000 cars on display, with nearly every imaginable marque being represented. Of course the lone De Lorean was a popular attraction, as were the John Goss Specials and rally prepared Cortina's. Once again we are guilty of doing a little too much talking and not enough picture taking. What we have represents only a tiny portion of what was on display.

RACV Great Australian Rally 2008

RACV Great Australian Rally 2008

One of the premier Classic Car Shows each year is the RACV Great Australian Rally, and this years event was a stand-out. We were pleased with the number of vehicles on display, many car clubs having a solid representation. We were particularly impressed with the Bristol's on display, as well as the immaculate Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing, Nash Metropolitan and several Mini's. We really appreciate the information passed on by many of the owners, but all that talking meant we only managed 60 odd photo's. We will try and get there earlier next year - if you are considering attending next years event we suggest you do too.

Toranafest 2007

Hunter Valley Torana Club Toranafest 2007

The 2007 Hunter Valley Torana Club "Toranafest" was a huge success, with 155 old Torana's taking part in the event. Harry Firth was in attendance, and had many a good yarn to tell as well as sign hundreds of autographs. The club managed to secure the services of a golf cart for the day, which they decorated in HDT livery and fastened Harry's name in the appropriate place. That "The Fox" want's to attend next years event says it all - make sure you enter it on your calendar - or better still use the Unique Cars and Parts event calendar to send you a reminder - you will be glad you did!

Ford Coupe Club of Australia Display Day 2007

Ford Coupe Club of Australia Display Day 2007

Another incredible Ford display, this time hosted by the Ford Coupe Club of Australia. On display were hardtops from the XP era right through to the XC Cobra, and even some Lincoln Continentals. As you would expect, there was plenty of interest in the now highly prized and extremely valuable Ford coupes, with the Bathurst replica Ford Cobra's being a highlight. Little wonder then that we were thrilled to see 3 pristine examples on display, harking back to a time when Ford enjoyed arguably their best ever racing year. Allan Moffat re-established his dominance in 1977, winning his second consecutive ATCC title that year (the third of his career) and of course there was the crushing 1-2 victory of both Moffat and team-mate Colin Bond at Bathurst. (To re-live that victory, also see: Bathurst Memorable Moments)

Chryslers By The Bay

Chryslers By The Bay 2007

One of the premier Chrysler events held in Australia each year is unquestionably "Chryslers By The Bay". Set amid the tranquil surrounds of the Corio beach promenade and with the magnificent Geelong Grammar buildings providing a "Regal" backdrop, this years event was a feast for any Chrysler aficionado. As always, our thanks to the many owners who not only took the time to make the day such a wonderful experience, but allowed us to get up close and personal with their wonderful and highly prized Chryslers. As would be expected there were plenty of Valiants, our pick a beautifully presented turquoise V8 Signet convertible. The Dodge Challenger's could have stolen the show, had it not been for the 1960 Dodge Phoenix. Truth is, we liked them all.

Triumph Car Club Concours

Triumph Car Club Concours 2007

The Clayton Campus was the venue for this years Triumph Car Club of Victoria Concours, and an amazing array of fine British machinery was on display. We noted that many were taking part in the coucours, the entrants cars all presented in near perfect condition (dare we say better than new). From the ever popular Stag's, TR's through to the Dolomite Sprints and trusty Herald's, there was something for everyone.

Shannons French Car Festival 2007

Shannons French Car Festival 2007

The blustery conditions didn't manage to curb the enthusiasm of the faithful French car fraternity at the 2007 Shannon's French Car Festival. A breathtaking assortment of the best of French marques, past and present, with examples from Peugeot, Renault, Citroën, Matra-Simca, Delage, Amilcar and La Buize. There was even a Hurtu there, the first we have seen, not surprising given their rarity. Hurtu started out manufacturing sewing machines, then bicycles, and finally the serious production of chain driven motor cars in 1895 using a design from Léon Bollee. We believe the company folded in 1929, so not too many were made. And we left the best till last - the sensational Renault Alpine's, each presented in original race trim. Almost enough to make you want to wear a beret!

Classic American Car Show 2007

Classic American Car Show 2007

The Lincoln-Mercury Car Clubs "Classic American Car Show" was a showcase of all that is best from the design studio's of US car manufacturers. Naturally there were plenty of Lincoln's and Mercury's on display, but being the event was for anything American and classic, all the other great marques were also well represented. The presentation of all cars on display was incredibly high, so much so that we pitied the poor judges who must have had a difficult time picking a winner. Car after car was, quite simply, faultless.

Charger Show 'N Shine 2007

Charger Show 'N Shine 2007

What a sensational turn-out for the 30th Annual Charger Car Club of Victoria's Show 'N Shine. If the numbers of on-lookers is anything to go by, the old Val's and Chargers have well and truly reached legend status in the eyes of many classic car enthusiasts. As always, the owners were more than happy to spend time with visitors, letting them get up close and personal with their wonderful cars, and no doubt explaing why some of the 6 cylinder iterations are more highly prized than the V8's. We would like to thank all that we spoke to on the day.
