LOADS OF FREE ACTIVITIES & ENTERTAINMENT FOR ALL AGES! To everyone in the Bendigo and surrounding region, lock-in Saturday, 22 September 2018. It's been 100 years in the making and now it's nearly here: the VACC Centennial Cavalcade and Show 'n Shine! The numbers are unrepeatable for a Cavalcade from Melbourne to Bendigo: 100 vehicles from 100 years (1918-2018); over 61 marques; and a once in a life time event. Such is the scale of this show 'n shine, it is believed an event like this has never before been attempted anywhere in the world. Up to 200 vehicles will be on display.
VACC CENTENNIAL CAVALCADE (from 12 noon) Feel the buzz, excitement and passion – this is a celebration of history and evolution of our automotive history. The 100-year vehicle cavalcade from 1918-2018, The Cavalcade will set off early from Calder Park raceway, featuring cars, commercials, trucks and motorcycles, highlighting a centenary of Australian motoring. The Cavalcade will then be led up Calder Freeway by a 1918 Buick Roadster and then will be the hero exclusively showcased in front of the majestic Bendigo Town Hall ‘Pebble Beach’ style from 12 noon. Be front and centre to give all of these impressive vehicles the ultimate reception as they are welcomed to Bendigo by event ambassador, one of Australia’s favourite entertainers, Shane Jacobson. VACC CENTENNIAL SHOW 'N SHINE (12 noon – 4pm) This 100-year event invites the City of Bendigo and surrounding region to come together and celebrate the journey, history and achievements of the motoring industry. Vehicle lovers, families and kids of all ages are all welcome to come and experience, have fun and enjoy all of the free entertainment and activities on offer.
There will also be trophies awarded for some of the best vehicles on show. A celebratory event which will ensure there’s something for everyone to enjoy – food and beverage vendors, roving acts, magicians, animal farm, fairy floss, stilt walkers, face painting, jumping castle, balloon twisters and of course Lightning McQueen! Come along to this free community-focussed festival over the school holidays and be part of history.
VACC CENTENNIAL GALA DINNER (7pm – 12 midnight) To finish the celebrations, VACC are hosting a Centennial Gala Dinner in the elegant Bendigo Town Hall. The President of the VACC, Mr Tony Sanchez, invites all members, non-members and staff to attend this once-in-a-century event which not only will celebrate a 100-year milestone achieved by VACC and its members, but it will also provide the beginning of the next 100 years. The dinner will feature a presentation from the VACC President, a reflection of the VACC blueprint for the future by VACC CEO Geoff Gwilym, and an evening of good food, entertainment and music.
