I've been doping quite a bit of research on these rare cars and in particular recently looking into some confusion as to the correct paint colors.

Using info from Chrysler Historical, www.paintref.com and various color chip cards and Ditzler color documents i have concluded that:

1957 DeSoto Adventurers did NOT use Surf White as is often stated - this was apparently a '55 only color.
The correct white is just called "White" ditzler code 8036. This NOT the same color as Frost(y) White but it IS the same color as Cloud White which has the same 8036 Ditzler code.

However, I have hit a problem trying to understand the Adventurer Gold. Everyone agrees that the '56 Adventurer Gold was different to the '57 Adventurer Gold. '56 Gold = Ditzler code 21293 '57 Gold = Ditzler code 21273. However, I have a Ditzler Advance Bulletin Color information document which clearly statres that the Ditzler 21273 is a "replacement color" and should not be confused witht eh earlier late '56 Adventurer Gold 21293. This document is dated Jan 22, 1957. So it is quite possible, even certain, that very early '57 Adventurers were painted in the late '56 Gold (21293) at least up to the date of the "Advance" color change bulletin. I also have an ACME document which refers to the '57 gold as "1957 Spring Color" so it is quite possible that the "new" gold did not come into effect until "Spring 1957". With the first Adventurers being built later than the rest of the line up in December '56, it seems to me likely all Adventurers up to at least Jan 22, 1957 must have been build with the old color, and probably this continued up to Spring '57.

Does anyone have any informaiton on when "Spring '57" was in Chryslerland at the time?
