Origins:

Internal combustion engine manufacturers (1907) motor tricycle production (1930), took name Daihatsu Kogyo (1951), produced Daihatsu 360, Diesel division became Daihatsu Diesel (1966), took name Daihatsu Motor (1974).

First mass-production model: Compagno saloon (1963).
First model exported to Europe: Daihatsu Charade (1977).
