In 1920 a government initiative, in conjunction
with British Petroleum, saw the birth of C.O.R.
- The Commonwealth Oil Refineries. Motor spirit
was available and in 1934 a Benzol mixture was
added to the range. In 1952 BP gained full ownership
and C.O.R. entered an interesting transitional
period where BP and C.O.R. were avaiable from
the one oulet and even the same pump. BP was
marketed as super grade and C.O.R. as standard.
During
1959 the Commonwealth Oil Refineries were was phased out.
