Q: How much does it cost to place a classified?
A: It costs absolutely nothing to place your Classified Ad.

In fact, advertising has been at no-charge since the sites inception last century (ok - 1999). Thousands of car enthusiasts have sold their cars and/or parts via the site, you have nothing to lose! You can make as many changes as you like and upload up to 20 images. And of course you are free to advertise in any other media you like. The classifieds system also allows for creation of both "Signs" and "Flyers" to further enhance your sales leads - if you are putting a "For Sale" sign in your car window this feature alone makes it worth your time to advertise on the site!

Q: How long will my classified ad run?
A: Until your item is SOLD!!

When you place your classified you will be asked to specify the duration you wish the ad to run. You can select from 1 month to 1 year, but even then 7 days before the expiration of your classified you will receive an email letting you know the expiration date. This email will invite you to re-new the classified, at no-cost, and with only a single click. This system has only been implemented to ensure that content remains current. Should you forget to re-new your ad within the 7 days, simply click on the "My Expired Ad's" icon and you can re-activate your classified.

Q: I am corncerned about my privacy - what can I do?
A: We understand how important your privacy is, and take this issue very seriously.

The amount of information you provide to the sytem about yourself is entirely up to you. You must choose a user name and password and provide a current email address - but the remaining fields including your address and phone number(s) are entirely optional. By default, the system will not even publish your email address on the classified to help ensure you do not recieve unsolicited email - therefore any enquiries to your email account will be sent via our server. And if you don't trust our server you can elect to only send and receive communication via your members account rather than your email inbox! You can select your communications settings from the "My Communications Settings" Icon.

Q: If I choose to use "Completely Private Communication", how do I read any enquiries?
A: Reading any messages left by prospective buyers is easy, simply click on the "My Communications" Icon.

But remember that, as you have elected to ban the server from contacting you via email, it will be unable to notify you of any new enquiries also. It is therefore up to you to perodically login to the server and check for communications.

Q: How many classifieds can I submit?
A: As many as you wish, in any of the categories which include:

Q: How many photos of my car or parts can I upload to my free classified?
A: You can upload up to 20 images to your classified ad.

With the ability to make as many on-going changes as you like, you can add to the portfolio of images at any time, or delete images where appropriate. The system for uploading images is extremely easy, although we recommend all images be kept to less than 400K and a maximum resolution of 640 x 480 pixels. The classifieds system will reject any image over 1 megabyte in size. To modify any details within the ad, including any images, simply click on the "My Active Ads" Icon and select the classified ad you wish to change.

Q: Do I have to list my car or parts exclusively on Unique Cars and Parts?
A: Absolutely not.

We have known of some advertisers that have listed their vehicles in other print and on-line services. Other classified sites, however, usually make you "pay per image" for your classified, and we know of several astute sellers that have referenced their classified on this site to direct potential buyers to a larger portfolio of images. In addition, our classifieds system will allow you to create your very own professional Signs and Flyers to further enhance your selling exposure.

Q: Do you filter email enquiries?
A: Yes we do.

Provided you have chosen not to expose your email address within the classified, which is our recommendation and is the default setting, every email enquiry sent to you will be checked by a human, and only forwarded when we believe the enquiry is bona-fide. Because of this, email enquiries may be delayed by up to 24 hours - although we do try to process these a lot quicker than that. Ultimately however it is your responsibility to check out the buyer or seller, and always be cautious when conducting a transaction.

Q: Why shouldn't I sell my car or parts on an Auction site?
A: Because finding the right buyer, and achieving the best price, may take some time and patience.

Remember that selling a car privately will most likely yield the highest price, and selling on Unique Cars and Parts is one of the most effective ways of reaching the Classic Car enthusiast. If selling a car, it is wise to gather all the necessary particulars prior to placing your free classified, such as the registration or VIN number, year of manufacture and registration expiry. You can update your classified as many times as you like, so don't worry if you forget something on the first take. Generally, we have found classifieds with accompanying photos generate the most enquiries, so if possible try to gather some images of the car or part. We have specifically configured the classifieds system to allow up to 20 images to be added so that you can detail the exterior and interior in great detail, this way helping ensure the potential purchasers have been qualified as much as possible.

Q: I have placed my ad, now what?
A: Get your documentation prepared for the buyer.

If selling a car, it goes without saying that you should thoroughly clean the interior, exterior and windows. Always be prepared to close the sale with the appropriate documentation, including service details, maintenance records, restoration and/or spare parts particulars. If you still have a question, don't hesitate to Contact Us. If you have not already done so, you will need to register so that you can place your free classified(s). We wish you every success with the sale of your vehicle.

Q: What more can I do to protect myself?
A: Be vigilant.

Unique Cars and Parts strongly advise that, under no circumstances, you provide your log in details to anyone in response to email or phone requests for confirmation. The scam is commonly known as "phishing", and a number of these scams are currently in operation on the Internet. No employee or representative of Unique Cars and Parts will ever request you to divulge your username or password.

Q: OK - I am ready to place my free classified. How do I get started?
A: Register on the Classifieds.

Once you are ready to place your classified, you need to register a username in the classifieds system. It is very easy, and takes hardly any time at all. You can log back into the Classifieds system as often as you like, be it to change or add information to an existing ad, or place additional ads for any cars or parts you wish to sell. A word on Scam’s:

Unfortunately there are some people that will try to take advantage of the unwary. Unique Cars and Parts recommend that you always take necessary steps to ensure the purchaser or seller is bona-fide. Never, under any circumstances, part with money by way of a deposit until you or your representative have sighted the car (car part or other item) and can ensure you will be getting what you have paid for. Scams can be perpetrated by both buyers and sellers.

Buyer Scam:

Always be cautious when selling your car to an overseas buyer. One scam involves a potential overseas purchaser sending you a cheque for an amount in excess of the purchase price of your car. They will then ask you to send the change back to them, or to pay the change to a local shipping agent. There are several variations on the theme. If you get an offer like this from overseas, we recommend that you cease negotiations and do not submit the cheque to your bank (as bank charges for the processing will likely occur).

Seller Scam:

The usual seller scam involves the car, parts or other items being offered for sale at a very low price. The seller will say that the item is located overseas, or in a location that makes it difficult to inspect (if in Australia). The seller will then ask you to send them a deposit, or pay for the item in full, prior to any potential inspection or delivery. If you get an offer like this, we strongly recommend you take all appropriate steps to ensure the seller is bona-fide, and be wary of the likelihood that this is a scam.

If you suspect a scam please take note of the classified particulars and click here to report it to uniquecarsandparts.com.au or click on www.scamwatch.gov.au and follow the links to report it to the relevant authorities.
