James Corbett Exhibition [WA] Linton & Kay Contemporary. Subiaco Opening Night 22nd April (7PM – 8.30PM)
Linton and Kay Contemporary, 123 Hay St Subiaco, presents the much-anticipated new body of work from celebrated Australian sculptor James Corbett ,”Hares Hounds and other Fast Machines” to be opened by Car Enthusiast & Collector Peter Briggs .
Running from 22 April - 6 May this exhibition represents an extraordinary synthesis of the mechanical and organic, with salvaged car parts giving new meaning through the artists inspired vision.
Originally hailing from Ningi, Queensland, Corbett’s previous career as a car wrecker took a distinctive turn over a decade ago upon the discovery of his unique passion. Elevating used car parts into the realm of Fine Art, Corbett’s sell-out shows have thrust him full throttle into the fast lane of the international contemporary art scene. His sculptures are featured in prestigious galleries and private collections worldwide; with the artist also commissioned to produce works for the likes of Toyota (for an advertisement with the late Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin), ,Volkswagen Australia , the Essen Motor Show in Germany, the Australian Grand Prix, Yamaha Australia and Novotel Ningaloo Resort .
Corbett’s sculptures are considered to be among the best examples of assemblage art in the world. With his innovative application of traditional sculptural techniques combined with a visionary eye, James Corbett has rightfully gained his place as a highly collectable and sought after artist on the international market.
